TV & Pre-roll Ads
Sherpäni
As part of an Elements of Creative Advertising course, I and a team of four students were tasked with creating TV and pre-roll ads for Sherpäni, a women's travel bag company based in Boulder, CO. The brand designs a wide variety of travel bags and luggage and makes a conscious effort to use sustainable materials. Sherpäni prioritizes safety in its travel bags by creating products that are theft-proof and durable.
The Message
My team and I produced TV and YouTube pre-roll advertisements with the objective of increasing sales of the Soleil Multi-Wear Travel Bag. These advertisements targeted middle-aged mothers with daughters graduating college.
Creative Brief
TV Script
Format
The commercials use a vignette format to tell a story of how the product is sustainable and meaningful through different phases of life. This format was used to make the sequence of events more meaningful and show how the product helped maintain the mother-daughter relationship, even from a distance.
Talent & Tone
There will be two different characters used. The VO uses the voice of an early 30s female with a calm, happy tone to elicit a positive feeling in the audience. By using this tone, the audience will immediately feel like the product brings happiness. The voice of the daughter in the TV advertisement would be done by a woman in her early 20s with an excited tone to emphasize that the character recently graduated and is hopeful about future plans, and to travel with the new bag. The mother in the TV advertisement would be voiced by a woman in her mid 40s and would use an excited, grateful tone to show the relief that the bag kept the daughter safe during travel. Using an overall positive tone for all characters helps aid the storyline and elicit joyful, heartwarming emotions for viewers.
SFX & Music
There are sound effects used during travel scenes to show that the daughter is using the product in various different locations and activities and emphasize the versatility of the bag. It shows viewers that the product can be used for all different events and locations. The first song that will play is an adventurous guitar song because the daughter is about to take off on a post graduation trip, and it portrays to the audience the excitement that is felt by the character. Then, there is a transition to uplifting music as the mother and daughter safely reunite, showcasing the happiness that the product brought to both characters during separation.
